It’s your record.
Here’s how to fix it.
Brokers and insurers use Carrier Overpass to read your public FMCSA record. We don't create that record and we can't edit it, but you can correct it, and when FMCSA does, the change reaches us on the next refresh.
Every authority is in the federal file
FMCSA publishes census, insurance, inspection and crash data for every USDOT number. Carrier Overpass keeps a nightly copy of that public data and presents it as a one-page report. Being listed is not a rating, a complaint or a judgment. Every carrier in FMCSA’s census appears.
What brokers and insurers see
- Your authority status, operation type, cargo, fleet size and contact details from your MCS-150.
- Insurance filings on record with FMCSA and their history.
- Roadside inspections, violations, out-of-service rates and reportable crashes.
- Your BASIC standing and ISS score, using FMCSA’s percentiles where published and an estimate, labelled as one, where not. How we compute them.
- Other authorities that share your officers, phones, addresses or vehicles.
Fix it at the source.
Corrections have to be made with FMCSA. We pick them up on the next nightly refresh; BASIC figures follow FMCSA’s next monthly SMS release.
An inspection, violation or crash
Challenge it through FMCSA DataQs. That includes asking for a crash to be reviewed as not preventable under the Crash Preventability Determination Program.

File an updated MCS-150 with FMCSA. Carriers must update it at least every two years, and any time the details change.

Filings are made by your insurer, not by you. Ask your agent or insurer to file, correct or reinstate the filing with FMCSA.

When the record is right but our report isn’t
If FMCSA shows the correct data and our report doesn’t a few days after the change, tell us with your USDOT number and what looks wrong. We check it against the federal source and reply.
Carrier Overpass is an independent company, not affiliated with or endorsed by FMCSA or the U.S. Department of Transportation. We cannot change a safety rating, remove an inspection or reinstate authority.
